Sources have confirmed officers are probing the alleged swindle at Dublin Pool and Juke Box Ltd, which operates Dr Quirkey’s Good Time Emporium on O’Connell Street.

Gardai are investigating the alleged €2million fraud at Rosanna Davison’s father-in-law’s slot machine empire, the Irish Mirror can reveal.

Accounts for the company, which is owned by Richard Quirke, showed alleged misappropriation of funds totalled €1.017million in 2019 and €1.009million in 2018.It is not known how the fraud was committed, but the amounts missing have been written off. He holds shareholder funds totalling €33.6million with most of the company’s wealth concentrated in property with a book value of €34.3million at the end of June 2019.

The breakdown of the 2019 scam is €887,000 under alleged “misappropriation of cash” and alleged “misappropriated bank payments” totalling €130,190. Under the heading of ‘exceptional items’ the breakdown of the cost of the alleged fraud in 2018 is €912,000 under alleged “misappropriation of cash” and €97,203 under alleged “misappropriated bank payments”.
