The rapid rise in home prices, followed by a spike in mortgage rates, is particularly impactful for LGBTQ homebuyers.

The rapid rise in the cost of a home has made it more challenging for members of the LGBTQ community to buy a home.

Mrad, a gay man living in the Los Angeles area, has spent much of his adult life commuting several hours a day to his job at the NASA jet populsion lab in Pasadena, California. When he found an apartment closer to work, he noticed a major improvement in his life. "It was so strange for me to see a line of people outside an open house waiting to get in. I couldn't believe there was that much of a demand. … I kind of didn't know what I was getting myself into," Mrad said.

Do you think it's any easier for our Hispanic population? Do you think it's any easier for two income family.. talk about how hard it is to buy a house that's one thing but if you're just going to target one segment that's another.. homeownership is tough for everyone

Awwww poor 1% cant find a house close enough to ride his pink bike to work. What about the damn homeless people? Screw the lgbtq crowd. Were tired of the push that this 1% is normal. Its not normal and we just do not care. Report on something important.

Lol who writes this garbage?

😂😂😂 this is a joke

Is this a parody account?

WTF is wrong with you? These spikes are particularly impactful to ANYONE who wants to buy a home and is in the working or middle classes. Who you have sex with isn't more impactful than the economic class you're in. FFS

Who wants to live next door to sinning sexual perverts?

Why did they turn me down for a loan? I even wore a tie.

jesserpound 'World to end tomorrow' - Minorities and women to be hit the hardest.

jesserpound The census bureau’s most recent release shows home ownership at 65.4%. But for non-lgbtq adults (and couples), their’s is significantly higher (70% and 75%, respectively per the article)? What group is pulling down the average?

Is this really an article? Wtf is wrong with people today? What is with the absolute obsession with gender and sexual preference? Because that makes a difference in what your mortgage payment is? Get a competent editor cnbc. Your site is becoming absolute trash jesserpound

They’re hitting everyone hard. What a stupid headline.

jesserpound Why don't you change the title to something truthful, like 'I'm a whiny entitled crybaby that can't afford a $650,000 house on a single income.'? Too many these days have entitlement issues, and it's worse among certain 'entitled' communities that demand special rights.

But they’re DINKs

jesserpound jesserpound Who discriminate LGBT in interest rates

Correlation and causation are 2 very different things.

Are you sure it is not the 6.5% rates 😆

Well this is Pulitzer material.

WOW, what a load. 1st-time buyers are having it hard PERIOD. It has nothing to do with sexual preferences or sexual identities. This is the same gaslighting we have seen for a while. IT IS A LIE PERIOD. 💩💩💩

So basically people who don’t own homes already are effected more negatively by the current market. Much more inclusive 🤷🏽‍♂️

jesserpound Is this article a joke? C'mon man.

Lube prices skyrocketing

CNBC is at a woke low!!! WTF does mtg rates and LGBT... have ANYTHING to do with them? I can see blacks maybe a big maybe since they might be viewed as more risky by some.

jesserpound Oh wow this is journalism in todays world. Doesn’t matter who you screwing dipstick we’re all getting screwed by your boy Joe

NASA jet propulsion engineers being hit particularly hard by mortgage rates?

Omg

So stupid. Why are they trying to be a victim here?

Stupid article, now market can identify peoples sexual orientations

It’s everyone why do we need to single people out

jesserpound This entire article is complete bullshit. 😂

Really

Is their a check box on the mortgage application for sexual orientation or is CNBC just running out of real victims of discrimination.

You guys ought to warn readers that this article will make them dumber.

Complete irrelevant CNBC garbage windup. How would they even know the sexuality of home owners? Where's the UCLA study details and what is the point of it. 2 words - Bill Gates 😵‍💫 The list of his UCLA grants/donations goes on.

So there is a higher mortgage rate for LGBT? Or you just stooped to a new low in journalism?

This is just wrong

Maybe if those men didn’t have to go buy dresses it wouldn’t be a problem

Well the banks discriminate against the LGBTQ and tack on an extra 1%

It says this right in the key points of the article * According to the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, 50% of LGBTQ adults and 64% of LGBTQ couples own their own homes. For non-LGBTQ groups, those numbers are 70% and 75%.* Basically saying this article is BS

So angry at this shit. Pretty sure your sexual orientation isn’t a question on your mortgage application. You’d think was running for public office.

So not women and the poor for this one?

If your LGBTQ do you get a higher rate?

I bet it hurts straight people just as hard. Mortgage rates are mortgage rates. This is THE dumbest column ever written.

Oh. It hits harder than the average working straight family with kids huh?! CNBC you about to become my next blocked news channel. 🤮

Based on a survey, not data. Geez

Elections have consequences. Those consequences effect everyone, not just lgbtq. 2024

yah they wierdos

The_Kyle_Mann this your article too? 😆

What a joke! Because your not straight? I don’t think so!

It’s hitting everyone hard. You’re not special.

“Skandar Mrad, shown here on vacation in Italy”

Are the IA+ also having a hard time?
