New research shows flexibility still trumps a shorter working week - although employees say they’d be happy with either perk.

Back when commuting was more common than Zoom calls, Kim McKay was considering how she could shake up the working routine at the Sydney-based communications firm she founded, Klick X.

“We talked about a four-day work week, and it got to a point where everyone said ‘that’s the day I’ll have to get the fridge delivered, that’s the day to get my hair cut’ so it didn’t actually feel like there was more flexibility, it felt more constrained,” Ms McKay said.
