Rob Wheals suddenly resigned amid the collapse of the gas pipeline giant’s long-held ambitions to make a US acquisition.

APA Group chief executive Rob Wheals has suddenly resigned amid the collapse of the gas pipeline giant’sleaving uncertainty over the future leadership at the major infrastructure owner.

“This together with the decision not to pursue an acquisition in the US, has led me to conclude that now is the right time to move on.” “We have been screening the US utilities market for over three years now and whilst there are clearly attractive aspects to that market, it also involves a number of risks and ongoing investment challenges,” Mr Fraser said.

Mr Fraser thanked Mr Wheals for his contribution to APA over 14 years with the business, especially during the last three years as CEO, which included the very difficult operating environment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
