A Labor MP says a federal review will examine whether there was any 'impropriety' in the $506 million deal, as the Defence Minister reveals he has not seen the former government's national security assessment of the port.

abc.net.au/news/nt-darwin-port-review-any-impropriety-chinese-company-landbridge/101361408A federal review of the leasing of the Darwin Port to a Chinese-owned company will examine whether there was any "impropriety" in the $506 million deal, a Labor MP says.

The deal has been controversial since 2015 when the then Country Liberal Party Northern Territory government handed operational control of the strategic asset to Landbridge for 99 yearsThe intensification of tensions between the Australian and the Chinese governments has seen the port remain in the political spotlight.

Following his election victory, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced a new review into the "circumstances of the port" but provided no further details about its scope. Today, Darwin-based MP Luke Gosling said it would be a thorough assessment that provided an answer as to "how was this allowed to happen?""We're reviewing the information that's already come to light, the stuff that's public and the stuff that's not," Mr Gosling told Mix FM.Mr Gosling said "people who have been around Darwin for a while know that there probably are some people that are a bit nervous" about the inquiry.

Media reports have suggested there were no adverse findings from the review, but it has never been made public.

Yet another review to find out ... everything was legal, but the secrecy behind it...

Good what kind of person gives out a 100 year lease to anything let alone an incredibly strategic asset to a corporation overseen by an unfriendly nation.

Australian people, why not ask your MP why Australian 'defence' forces are challenging China's defence forces? It takes 10 hrs to fly there and can hardly be defined as defending our shores. China hasn't attacked any country in a generation why would they bother with Australia?

So why has Albo not done anything, I mean he made such a song and dance over it .Surely he isn't a hypocrite.

Show some balls and end it! CCPVirus

it was stupidity Given we have Pine Gap in NT The spies are tapping the network traffic from Pine gap We were gullible Andrew Robb was the front man

Good, just over half a billion dollars for 100 years was way too little for one of our most strategic ports.

All legal and above board 2015 all signed off by the LNP, deal was reviewed in 2021 by the LNP and no one has seen that report. Now that China is not in favour with AUKUS and after being demonised over Covid is now seen as an aggressive expansionist country who retaliated against

China the gift that keeps giving.

Can't they just look at the previous results that other inquiries came up with for FFS?
