The approach has resulted in about $1.3 million split between 13 local tech ventures since Startup TNT first arrived in Saskatoon in June 2021. The funds were raised from 26 local investors, alongside 57 from outside the province. “TNT” stands for “Thursday Night Tradition,” a reference to weekly happy hour events Startup TNT holds, alongside investment summits and workshops for investors and company founders.Advertisement 4David Johnston first took part in Startup TNT activities as the founder and CEO of Omnee, a platform property owners can use to organize home repairs and renovations.

With new tech businesses launching nearly every day as the sector continues building up in the province, Johnston said it’s critical to find a way to expand the pool of available financing.
