See how Florida ranks among top states for women-owned businesses

from the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy including the number of businesses owned by men and the number owned by women. The Sunshine State ranked No. 2 with 4,747 women-owned small businesses per 100,000 businesses, barely edged out by D.C.'s 4,753.

"Florida ranks second and is home to female-owned businesses like Lil Roberts’ Xendoo, a cloud-based technology company that focuses on online bookkeeping and accounting for business owners. LMS General Contractors, with roots in both Florida and California, was started by , who was the youngest black woman to earn a CSLB general engineering license from the state of California," said the study.Florida has 1.034 million women-owned businesses, compared to 1.422 million owned by menMeanwhile, Florida is home to 128,307 equally owned businesses.

Other states in the top five include Colorado , Vermont and Georgia . The lowest state on the list was West Virginia .
