Scotland will build an economy based on renewable energy, creating a new £20 billion investment fund if it becomes independent, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has promised

The money would be delivered in the first decade after breaking away from the United Kingdom and would be funded with remaining oil revenues and the"responsible" use of borrowing powers, she said.

"It will help the transition to net zero, build resilient communities, and kick-start the sustainable economic growth so important for our newly independent nation." UK Prime Minister Liz Truss last month promised to lift a ban on fracking for shale gas, in place since 2019, in order to boost energy security.

Ordinary people were paying the price, she argued, with the economic turbulence and loss of confidence weakening the argument that Scotland benefited from being part of the United Kingdom.Ms Sturgeon's speech came a day before the UK Supreme Court considers an application about whether to allow Scotland to hold a new vote on independence in October next year.

Scots last voted on independence in 2014 but rejected breaking up the three-centuries-old union with England and Wales by 55% to 45%.

How the Scots tolerate such incompetence year after year is beyond me 🤷‍♂️

She’ll be out of a job shorty. I mean shortly.

In independence referendum 2014 they said North Sea Oil and gas would pay for independence....Now they want to leave it in the ground same as we are doing...Not a good policy....The block grant from Westminster to Scotland is £41 billion a year....

Yeah it'll be sunshine and lollipops. Just like brexit was.

No it won’t as we can’t even build bloody ferries
