THE suggested retail price of P170 per kilo of red onions failed to temper the retail price of the bulb in the markets in Metro Manila as it still ranged between P180 and P250 per kilo, based on the monitoring of the Department of Agriculture on Tuesday.Agriculture Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban signed Administrative Circular No. 9 implementing the P170 per kilo SRP of red onions amid a spike in the prices. The order was signed on Oct. 7, 2022 and was released to the media on Monday.

Based on the price watch of the DA, the retail price of red onions at Marikina Public Market ranges from P240 to P250 per kilo; P180 to P200 per kilo at Pasig City Mega Public Market in Pasig City; P200 to P220 at Guadalupe Market in Makati City; P180 to P200 per kilo at Munoz Market in Quezon City; P195 to P200 per kilo at Pritil Market in Manila; P180 to P200 per kilo at Malabon Central Market in Malabon City; and P190 to P200 per kilo at Commonwealth Market in Quezon City.
