Declining stock prices and a poor economic outlook has made the job of CEO unenviable this year.

The post-pandemic era has been known for the Great Resignation — workers leaving in droves to find new opportunities.Earlier this year, some 70% of high-level executives were seriously considering leaving their jobs for ones that better support their well being, according to aA worsening economic climate has raised the stakes for both CEOs and their companies. It's also sometimes led to the realization that they really aren't right for each other anymore.

While no major Bay Area CEO stepping down this year cited well-being as the reason for stepping down, there were more than a few dramatic departures. Check out the slideshow to see who left the top spot and why.
