City on verge of picking scooter companies for downtown Jax

After making the downtown electric scooter pilot program permanent earlier this year, the city of Jacksonville is on the verge of picking two vendors to continue the program.

Bird, Helbiz, Link and Spin took part in the pilot program. A fifth company, Blue Duck, ceased its local operations in December and closed its doors in January. The responses from the companies are being graded based on their operations plans, how they look to engage with the public and various ways they'll let riders pay, among other criteria. The permanent program builds on the pilot that was launched in Jacksonville in March 2021.
