Xeikon, an international digital printing technology company based in Belgium, has relocated its U.S. operations from Itasca to Elgin.

Benoit Chatelard, president and CEO of Xeikon and its parent company, Flint Group, said there were two main considerations in choosing Elgin for its new, larger facility. One is the new location at 350 River Ridge Drive is not far from Interstate 90, making it easy to get to and from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

Lucenko said they learned of the company move from Elgin Mayor Dave Kaptain and did what they could to assist. No incentives were needed, Lucenko said. While the Elgin location is Belgium-based Xeikon’s headquarters for its U.S. operation, the company also will also be using it to conduct business in Latin America and Canada, supply toner, ink and parts to customers, and host events at its innovation center.

Flint Group is based in Luxembourg, and it develops and manufactures large number of printing products, including inks and coatings. Its Xeikon division designs, develops and delivers web-fed digital color presses for label and packaging applications, document printing and commercial printing.
