Beijing is accusing Canada of “suppressing Chinese companies” by forcing three of its state-controlled corporations to sell their stakes in Canadian critical minerals businesses.
The targeted companies are Sinomine Rare Metals Resources Co., Ltd., Chengze Lithium International Ltd. and Zangge Mining Investment Co., Ltd. They must sell their stakes in Power Metals Corp., Lithium Chile Inc. and Ultra Lithium Inc., respectively. A spokesman for the Chinese government on Thursday accused Canada of exaggerating national security concerns to justify the forced divestments.
Wesley Wark, senior fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation, said in an interview that the response from the Chinese is “slightly double-faced,” given its claim that it operates as a fair player in a global market economy. He added that in its totality the tone of the Chinese response was quite moderate and equated to a “pretty gentle slap on the wrist” for Canada.
What about 🇷🇺 companies
😂😂What? Don’t we have Chinese police forces operating in Canada now! If that’s not massive support for the Chinese idk what is.
Our federal government allowed China to open up police stations in Canada!! That's methed up!
Of course they did, look at what happened with Huawei, just followed the US, no proof as the UK reported
Ban tiktok and shut down Chinese companies!
Kettle black
lol
Don't compete
Co-operate
China is a bad world actor- period. It is long overdue that Canada would begin a policy of decoupling.
They are not Chinese companies; they are communist emperor's company.
They essentially are... it comes down to decision. Honestly... it shouldn't come down to a decision... they all shouldn't be allowed.
Who cares. Phuck the CCP. Target their illegal police stations for harrassing of Canadian citizens next.
