SAN ANTONIO — Sprouts Farmers Market is set to open a store on the booming far West Side this week, its third location in the San Antonio area.
The store at 9702 State Highway 151 at the intersection of 151 and Hunt Lane will open at 7 a.m. Friday after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:45 a.m. There will be live music, a scavenger hunt, ice cream social, prizes, coffee samples and a smoothie bar at the store this weekend in celebration of the opening, the Phoenix-based company said.Daily store hours are 7 a.m. through 10 p.m. Sprouts already operates stores at 8101 Callaghan Road and 22135 S. Bulverde Road. Nationwide, it has 380 stores in 23 states.As San Antonio sprawls outward and its population swells, the far West Side is teeming with activity.
H-E-B opened a store at 14325 Potranco Road in 2020, its newest in San Antonio, and operates locations at 8219 Marbach Road and 10718 Potranco Road as well. Walmart has about a half-dozen locations on the far West Side and Costco built a store at 191 W. Loop 1604 S. last year.Across San Antonio, locally based H-E-B. The company claimed 52.4 percent of the local market in 2021 with 57 stores and about $4.2 billion in sales, according to a report by industry publication Chain Store Guide.
Walmart and its Sam’s Club chain captured 28 percent of the market with 34 stores and around $2.3 billion in sales.
