Murder charge laid against man arrested over death of Darwin business owner and mother Sheena Fairfield

A 56-year-old man has been charged with murder over the death of business owner and mother Sheena Fairfield, whose body was found by her husband in the front yard of their home in Darwin's northern suburbs last week.A 56-year-old man is now charged with murder after several days under guard in hospitalPolice said Ms Fairfield, 39, wasShe had lived in the home with her husband, Mick Fairfield, and their young daughter.

NT Police have said the alleged attacker and Ms Fairfield knew each other but the pair were not related. The man had been detained by police and was under guard at the Royal Darwin Hospital after emerging from a stand-off at a Rosebery property early on Friday morning.It is understood he has been discharged from the Royal Darwin Hospital and is now remanded in custody. He will face the Darwin Local Court on Wednesday.Tributes flow after tragic death

Police were first called to the property around 5.30pm Thursday after Ms Fairfield's discovered her body out the front of their home. She was pronounced dead by emergency services shortly after, with Detective Senior Sergeant Morrissey saying investigators believed she had been attacked at around 2.30pm.
