Envoy Air, Piedmont Airlines and PSA Airlines are offering bonuses of up to $100,000 to attract pilots from competitors.

American Airlines Group Inc.'s three wholly owned regional carriers are offering big bonuses to attract new pilots as they try to overcome a labor shortage and return to 2019 flying capacity levels.

Envoy will give $100,000 bonuses to first officers with at least 950 hours of commercial flying experience who are ready to begin training to become a captain. First officers with 500 to 950 commercial flying hours will be eligible for $75,000 bonuses. Pilots who accept an offer from Envoy will receive a class date as early as January.

PSA is offering $100,000 bonuses to direct-entry captains with at least 950 hours of experience flying for commercial airlines or private air charter and air taxi flights. First officers with 500 hours or more experience will be eligible for $75,000 bonuses.has said repeatedly that a pilot shortage at the regional level is one of the biggest constraints to the company's overall capacity plans.
