Nuro doubled its staff in less than two years. In retrospect, that 'was a mistake,' its founders said.

Nuro Inc., a developer of autonomous delivery vehicles, is cutting 300 employees, or about 20% of its staff.

"The market has gotten ugly," they said in their post."This stark shift requires us to respond decisively ... to ensure Nuro will steadfastly weather this market downturn." Nuro is paying affected workers 12-14 weeks pay as severance and giving them their performance bonuses for this year, Zhu and Ferguson said. It also plans to pay their health care expenses through the first quarter and offer job placement help, they said.
