A Houston family alleges that a franchise location in Pearland denied them service...

A Houston family is suing a Once Upon A Time franchisee in Pearland, claiming employees of the second-hand store for children's items refused to do business with them simply because they are Black.the store, 10100 Broadway St. Suite 106

"Why did you enforce this trash bag policy against us but not this customer?'" Perez said Johnson asked the attendant, but was given an excuse. Johnson then asked to speak to the supervisor, who allegedly identified as the franchise owner and denied that the events occurred as described by the family.

The lawsuit, filed in September by attorney Israel Perez, alleges this isn't the first such incident at that store but rather"part of a broader background of consistent complaints of racial discrimination." “These are legal issues that were dealt with during the civil rights movement," Perez said in a news release."It’s certainly shocking to see someone today outright say they have a right to refuse service to any race they don’t like.”
