And, for the most part, they were underwhelming.deals marketed as Black Friday or Black November sales have just rolled on into average December deals.
For the most part, South African stores offered a mixed bag of good and not-so-good deals this Black Friday. And unsurprisingly, even though most shops offered some kind of discount, almost all were up to some tricks rather than offering across-the-board good deals. Then there are product discounts that rolled over into December. Presumably, this means shops are still trying to get rid of old stock, or the deals they were offering weren't all that great.Stores can get away with this because Black Friday"deals" are incredibly difficult to verify in real-time. The gold standard of deal checking is recording prices before the sales and using this knowledge to inform your buying decisions - but tracking these prices is unrealistic for most of us.
We were most interested to see if stores really did drop prices on big-ticket items for one day only and if costs jumped back up the minute the Black Friday clock struck midnight.
