A Catholic liberal arts women's college has chosen Mesa for its first expansion outside Wisconsin.

Arizona is among the states where nurses are needed most, she said, pointing to a January 2022 Becker's Hospital Review report, which placed Arizona eighth in the nation for the percentage of hospitals in the state with critical staffing shortages. Alverno is leasing 13,000 square feet on the fifth floor at 1201 S. Alma School Road, where its enrollment partner, Synergis Education, also leases space on the ninth floor.
