The University of Arizona's football coach also got a raise. phoenix

The Arizona Board of Regents approved a contract for the new head football coach at Arizona State University this week, making him the highest-paid state employee in Arizona.

Besides a very high base salary, Dillingham’s contract allows for several incentive payments based off the performance of the team. If the team wins nine games in a season, Dillingham will get a $200,000 bonus, and every win over nine results in another bonus. If ASU football wins 12 games in one season, Dillingham’s bonus would be $1.4 million.

Dillingham’s hiring has already stirred up some interest among Sun Devil fans and boosters. He has met with members of the local business community and that has led to one alumnus — ABOR agreed to extend Fisch’s contract to a five-year deal and moved his base salary from $1.8 million to $2.85 million. He also gets an additional $500,000 a year for other duties he performs for the school.
