LIVE I Mantashe’s attacks on De Ruyter ‘unfair, uncalled for’ says Gordhan

COMMENT | The minister is shielding Makwana on issues around his lack of public support for De Ruyter. The media are also not getting any real opportunity to ask questions. This after Makwana and Gordhan spoke at length in platitudes. - Kyle CowanOne doesn't have to have public spats, Gordhan says, to discourage people in Cabinet or outside it, to make comments that damage confidence in an institution, people have different styles.

"In relation to the overthrow of the state [comment] and [whether De Ruyter is a] traitor, the emphatic answer is no. I am not going to qualify it in any way. Whatever commentary one might have about an individual, it is absolutely unfair and uncalled for to use that kind of language for somebody who tried their best to get Eskom out of the mess it was in. The more knowledgeable people know that the mess did not start in 2019... or in 2012.

COMMENT: It remains to be seen how international funders, including foreign countries, will react to the instability that has now been created within the power utility. It was De Ruyter, after all, who inspired confidence in these investors. - Azarrah KarrimGordhan is going through a long list of Eskom's well-publicised problems. He is yet to directly address De Ruyter's resignation and how he feels about it.

COMMENT | Makwana is now talking about the board's desire to find a"quick" short-term solution to load shedding. This is dangerous thinking - there is no short-term solution that does not make Eskom's performance over the longer term more tenuous. - Kyle CowanMakwana reveals that De Ruyter previously told him he would be reviewing his options after his birthday next year.

Bloody hypocrite!!!!!!!

Subservient to whiteness

De Ruyter took a brave step and so must Pravin before the whole country experiences worse blackouts than these 😭🤐😭

Because he achieved white monopoly capital's mandate. To sell off Eskom, sies...🇿🇦🤧

Load reduction?

Nonsense

Pravin was always part of the problem. No he tries to spin it.

I was in Sasol in 2014 when he resigned after the Lake Charles mess up, this chap has never been a winner he is forever failing and we wanna be told that he is a hero as for Nampak the less said the better

Pravin, Gwede, Cyril sold De Ruyter out for the sake of political capital. Cyril will be Gwede's puppet from now on.

Bit late hey?

Thanks him Isn't that what his salary was for Let's not pretend this was a public service or some kind of charity.

Thanking him for what? Ending load shedding…

siyadelelwa la

Da fakhi like He did a great job the man made things worse

Huge step ya rubbish

De Ruyter just made things worse. Gordhan can fool his kids at home.

Guys stop criticizing Jamnandas for thanking this lad. He is in his own right to thank him for implementing a WMC mandate (ensuring this SoE is non-functional thus leading to privatizing). Let's not also celebrate as he going to appoint another De Ruyter (WMC policy implementer)
