Adobe Inc. shares rose in the extended session Thursday after the creative software company topped earnings expectations for the year-ending quarter.

Adobe ADBE reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $1.18 billion, or $2.53 a share, compared with $1.23 billion, or $2.57 a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted earnings, which exclude stock-based compensation expenses and other items, were $3.60 a share, compared with $3.20 a share in the year-ago period.Adobe ADBE reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $1.18 billion, or $2.53 a share, compared with $1.23 billion, or $2.57 a share, in the year-ago period.

Adobe forecast first-quarter earnings of $3.65 to $3.70 a share on revenue of $4.6 billion to $4.64 billion, while the Street was looking for $3.64 a share on revenue of $4.26 billion, according to FactSet. Similarly, Adobe forecast full-year earnings of $15.15 to $15.45 a share on revenue of $19.1 billion to $19.3 billion, while the Street expected $15.33 a share on revenue of $17.61 billion.

For the year, Adobe shares are down 42%, compared with a 35% fall in the iShares Expanded Tech-Software Sector ETF IGV , an 18% decline in the S&P 500 index SPX , and a 31% drop in the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index COMP .
