It is because of the French language laws in Kbec. Why would any manufacturer in the US worry about a few million Kbec’ers when they have a huge market in the US and outside of Canada.

Clover Leaf wild red pacific sockeye salmon once processed in the US for Canadian distribution is now being shipped to Thailand for processing. The change in texture, appearance and taste has now changed and not worth the cost anymore. This is more about trade than competition.
