MaDongSuk's Agency And Production Company Of His Upcoming Sci-Fi Drama Comment On Production Delays

Ma Dong Suk’s agency and production company ASCENDIO have released brief statements regarding production of the upcoming sci-fi blockbuster “Hive” .

Based on the webtoon of the same name, “Hive” is a sci-fi series that depicts an apocalyptic world after civilization was destroyed by ginormous insects. The drama is reported to be made into a six-part series for Season 1 with more that 20 billion won invested into production costs. Ma Dong Suk was previously confirmed to star as Gae Jang Soo, a character who fights against the giant insects.

On December 21, a source from Ma Dong Suk’s agency BIG PUNCH Entertainment stated, “It is true that filming halted due to ASCENDIO’s production costs. The payment for [Ma Dong Suk’s] appearance is also being delayed,” adding that they are waiting for ASCENDIO’s final confirmation regarding Ma Dong Seok’s appearance.

A source from ASCENDIO stated, “There are no problems regarding the funding. It is not that production has halted, but rather we are still in discussion. We are in the pre-production stage, but there are edits being made to the script, so filming is being delayed.” The representative further explained, “Since he has not appeared in the show [by filming] yet, the expression of bing ‘unpaid’ does not fit [in this scenario].
