Former District 3 Councilwoman Rebecca Viagran, shown in June 2021 reacting to a speech by then-District 5 Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales, was named the new president and CEO of the South Texas Business Partnership.Rebecca Viagran, the former City Councilwoman on the Southeast Side, is the new president and CEO of the South Texas Business Partnership, formerly known as the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.

Viagran succeeds Al Arreola Jr., who resigned in October and accepted a job as president and CEO of the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce.Richard Perez, the longtime president and CEO of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, from the post he has held since 2007. Cristina Aldrete also recently stepped down as president and CEO of the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.
