Apple is facing a proposed class action lawsuit alleging the Apple Watch's blood oxygen sensor is 'racially biased' against people with dark skin tones.

It is unclear if Apple's technology carries the same problem. An

, which found that blood oxygen level readings were not meaningfully different between white Apple Watch wearers and nonwhite users. Doctors stress that anyone who is struggling to breathe should seek emergency care, and at-home devices are prone to false readings due to human error, and a range of other issues. While the website makes no mention of a user's natural skin color interfering with the device, it does include a disclaimer that "permanent or temporary changes to your skin, such as some tattoos, can also impact performance" of the Blood Oxygen app.

I call bullshit on this!

Give me a break

LOOOOOOLLLL!! ClayTravis

My old job installed a facial recognition punching machine in a hall with bad lighting, making it difficult for those with dark skin to register and clock in & out. I don't see them suing the manufacturer

Stop!! Everything is racially biased

It seems like this wide spread fake outrage about race is going to backfire. And the fact that media outlets feed this shit is shameful, divisive and toxic. One could look at all this ridiculousness and conclude that the end game is no longer to be a united people. Disgusting.

Seems like the woke environment Apple has been a part of is starting to hit them where it hurts the most (their wallets)

Suddenly being transracial makes sense...

Guess it’s time to be transblack.

What a load of wank

Them electronic devices do be racist sometimes

Hahahaha

Bahahahaha

This is just about the perfect example of a frivolous lawsuit.

How will Tim Apple respond?

Yes, I am sure that Apple, one of if not the most liberal, most woke companies in the entire world designed a blood ox sensor that only reads white peoples levels accurately. My God, when will this BS end?

Technology is racially biased now? Because that really makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Technology doesn’t have opinions, feelings, or motivations to purposely try and act out on those things towards anyone.

Watches are racist. Rise up against time.

Lmao

🤣

Yep, just when you thought the racial bullshit can't get any bigger

Sue Apple to make them innovate again while you’re at it. Everything since the iPhone X has been boring iterative upgrades.

ABC is sick

I’m almost positive Apple did this with ill intent.

Physics is so racist like dang

Every fucking thing is racist!!

This is Ludacris! Are you joking! Really!!!!

So sue ever hospital and pulse ox manufacturing companies while youre at it....😒

🤣

WEF CDC WHO Globalists

Wow. Some think Apple is one big cult. Apple is cool and all but idk.

My husband has a very strong Asian accent which Google's speech to text does a horrible job at transcribing. 💰💰💰💰

Imagine if it couldn’t pick up lighter skin tones…wouldn’t hear a word about it

This is a known issue on ALL O2 sensors.

Ffs

Haven't seen an oxygen sensor get the reading right yet. Put on one finger get a reading and put on finger next to it get a different reading.

Yay! Free money

How can oxigen be biased agains a color? What about SNOW Snow is white and freezes afro-americans!!! Oh my!!! Is snow racist? Or the weather is racist? Or why are they not in the hot and cozy africa instead of whining about places that are as they were meant to be?

Can someone shed light on whether the apple watch asks for skin color during setup. Other health equipment does, age, gender, lifestyle. Is it forbidden for some reason to ask for a shade of skin color and then adjust the output?

I would love to see the science behind this assertion

A watch is racially biased Lol.

Next are lawsuits against camera makers bc cameras don't process dark skinned people equally in photos, WTF is all this BS coming to. Maybe sue the moon bc those people become invisible at night.

😂😂😂😂😂😂

and we don't tell anyone that oximetry doesn't work on fingers with nail polish...

Is the owner of CNN Amroman or Amroscandinavian?

What next?..lol The WOKES have run amok!

?

NaijaFlyingDr Lmao! Una go dey alright.

Like clockwork.

This is just aggravating at this point. Self-destructive.

Goodbye abc

Love watching liberals suing liberal companies.

You know this is true. I wanted to see my blood oxygen level while having a mild asthma attack and it showed it was 99% I wonder how that could be true when I was having trouble breathing. Now I know.

Is their anything that is not racist to the blacks

Does the sensor make people do math to get the result or something?

ANCrap trying to make everything racist as usual. The strategy is always divide and conquer. I hope this article piss off Apple and they take action against ABCrap

Sue God. He made them black. Case should be dismissed immediately

So are cameras. This isn’t news.

🙄

But are they suing Apple or photonics? We all know how science is super biased. Science is like the god of the universe... and he hates you.

Why does the light on my phone have to be white? Apple wants to make sure everyone in my photos light complexed.

Curious question: is it harder to draw blood from people with dark skin tones? Cos the veins are harder to see? Is this also an issue with a lawsuit waiting?

Such bullshite.. tired of the race card crap!

shameful apple. let me guess the test pool skin tones. Billions in profit everywhere not much change in the technology from previous blood oxygen sensor and you get it wrong? let us look at the top level apple executives skin color and see if thats a clue.

I guess going Woke didn’t work out

All pulse oximeters are inaccurate on people with darker skin. It’s not just Apple.

?

How can a watch be racially biased? Why would it be? Why would Apple do that to a huge portion of their clientele?

This is a limitation of the tech. For finger pulse ox nail polish will interfere with them.

Most of the world is dark skinned so it certainly makes sense for Apple to build a product that is racially biased against them. FFS 🤦‍♂️

Can you say “bad faith”

😂

this is wild 😭
