PETALING JAYA: With Chinese New Year fast approaching, traders are optimistic that people will come out in droves to do some last-minute shopping.

A stall owner, Jack Lee, said the prices of mandarin oranges were up 10% to 15% and that he had ordered 3,000 boxes as usual.

“Same as bak kwa , cookies, yee sang, gift hampers and fireworks. The sale will increase on the last week before Chinese New Year,” he added. Lee, who operates a famous bak kwa shop, said the price of sliced pork had increased from RM98 to RM110 per kg pack.
