Binay clarified that businesses in Makati are required to renew local permits every year. Under the City Ordinance No. 2022-A-171 recently approved by the City Council, the deadline for the acceptance of payments for business licenses without penalty is by 5:00 p.m. of January 31, 2023.
“Based on the city revenue code, late payments incur a 25 percent surcharge and a two percent penalty per month of delay until the amount due is fully settled,” the Makati local government unit said. “Starting January 9 to 31, 2023, the BPLO will operate from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends,” it added.
