consumer channel/package choice and lower pricing would be more effective (duh)

In Ecuador, I have excellent fiber-optic cable internet, no other services, with ca. 140mbit/s up and download speed and pay $56/month. Customer service is 1A. Why is internet service the US, with its huge market, millions and millions of users, always such an issue? Is it greed?
