Despite fears of a recession, 2023 could be a big year for the Valley. phoenix

will be under construction in 2023 in south Phoenix in an area considered a food desert, or lacking fresh food. The new 1.2 million-square-foot facility will comprise a produce distribution center, farmer's market, community park, retail space and a business park for education and research. The project is being developed by Peoria-based Plaza Cos.

Macerich will give a facelift to Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall including upgrading the columns, flooring and lighting as well as relocating elevators and escalators. Construction will begin this month, while interior renovations are planned to be finished by the end of the year. Also at Fashion Square, HCW started construction on an 11-story, 265-room hotel called Caesars Republic Scottsdale hotel that's expected to open in Q1 2024.
