Wall Street’s main indexes ended higher, with shares of major U.S. banks rising following their fourth-quarter results, which kicked off the earnings season

But shares of all four firms rose, along with the S&P 500 banks indexmore rainy-day funds to prepare for a possible recession and reported weak investment banking results while showing caution about forecasting income growth. They said higher rates helped to boost profits.

"This has shifted the focus back to earnings," said Peter Tuz, president of Chase Investment Counsel in Charlottesville, Virginia.

At least it’s looking like a “mild recession.” The four biggest US commercial banks kicked off earnings season with a a mixed bag of performance.

Does anyone else the 'better then expected' bank earnings were a set up? After all they are all fed members and JPM trades for them...last quarter we say the same reaction drop premarket then rally after the open only to drift back down in the following weeks....I say BS
