January has been filled with headlines announcing job cuts at company after company. Here is a list of layoffs this month – so far.

Just this week, Alphabet, Google’s parent company, Microsoft\n \n and Vox Media announced layoffs that will affect more than 22,000 workers. Their moves follow on the heels of job cuts earlier this month at Amazon, Goldman Sachs and Salesforce. More companies are expected to do the same as firms that aggressively hired over the last two years slam on the brakes, and in many cases shift into reverse.

Today’s “unprecedented market environment” is a stark contrast from its attitude over the last three years,, when it increased its staff by about 22%. Its last major round of cutbacks was in 2019. Goldman Sachs The bank will lay off up to 3,200 workers this month amid a slump in global dealmaking activity. More than a third of the cuts are expected to be from the firm’s trading and banking units. Goldman Sachs\n \n had almost 50,000 employees at the end of last year’s third quarter.

Wow so it’s not just Elon…..

Great job Biden recession incoming..

I was expecting cnn to blame Elon

Musk preempted the tech overhang by sacking a horde of ceremonial employees at Twitter who were busy at doing nothing.

I always said self employment is best. Tough but there is no retrenchment.

Why not talk about the reason for the job cuts?

Uhh... maybe be specific Job cuts from tech industry.

Can’t be affected by the layoff if you’re unemployed.

Are you going to post the great economy, job and salary growth right under this article on layoffs

On the bright side; tens of thousands of people who were under the misapprehension that their 'government' or their 'employer' 'cared for them' will come to the bitter but necessary realization that they were nothing more than a disposable slave to their bosses. Wake Up & Liber8!

Burger joints have never paid higher wages, In-N-Out at 22.50 a hour, stop whining, start flipping those burgers.

HATE this for the employees.

Wait a minute. You guys told me that this is the best economy ever. What gives?

what changes in my body after the age of 65..?..how can the vaccine recognize the age of people..? or does the vaccine not like pensioners..?

jennamaemartin I wish we saw Fun. At Lake Tahoe that one year

Is that 👆 why Republicans are going to shut down the government? So that will be the excuse for layoffs and companies won't have to pay severance packages? Then they will blame it on Democrats and Biden for not giving into cutting Social Security and Medicare as they demanded.

Biden says the economy is flourishing under his watch. Reported job cuts must be misinformation and a threat to our democracy. 😂😂😂

JoeBidensEconomicRecovery

But I thought the economy was the best it’s been in decades? So why all the layoffs?
