Mercedes-Benz will take a step towards offering a self driving car in the United States, or at least in some states, when it begins selling cars featuring its new Drive Pilot system later this year. Mercedes’ Drive Pilot system is designed to work on highways in dense traffic at speeds of less than 40 miles per hour.

Even Tesla’s Autopilot and so-called “Full Self-Driving” technologies require that the driver pay attention to the road outside the car at all times. “In the modern world, time is one of the most precious commodities, and giving back time to our customers is a core element in our strategy to build the world’s most desirable cars,” said Markus Schäfer, chief technology officer for Mercedes-Benz.

I have to give it to MercedesBenz they do want to compete.

Driving is so much fun. Why give it away?

Is this really a good idea? Is this something we really need?

'The system will only work on certain mapped highways in states where it has been deemed legal... in dense traffic, at speeds of less than 40 miles per hour.' 'leapfrogs'

You ignoring the biggest story because Pfizer is your sponsor?

What could go wrong

Yes, it was a great show

Honest question: why would anyone want a self-driving car? I love driving. If you don't there's public transportation/car services. I wish we had more cars that offered sticks/manual transmissions. To me buying a self-driving car is like paying someone to eat dinner for you.

No fucking thanks

What’s the big deal for self driving cars

I trust them. Not the South African windbags cars.

Let’s lane-assist in gas powered cars down, first

I don't think many people really want a self-driving car but I also didn't think digital cameras would replace film.

Epic Fail 🤣 Report Real News TwitterFiles CNN is involved with censorship using the FBI/DOJ to silence opposition using social media platforms & big corporations (Google, Amazon, WEF, NIH etc) Lied about Vax, getting paid billion$ to cover for Big Pharma! Resist

The headline is a bit of a stretch? Leap frogging tesla for simply following the car in front at low speed? Tesla s summon feature would be considered L3? No? elonmusk

I continue to wonder why anyone would want a self driving car. Driving is one of the only pure pleasures in life.
