Morocco Shrine Center to be demolished Wednesday

A prominent Jacksonville venue is coming down to make way for apartments, retail and office space.

The Morocco Shrine Center, built in 1985, will be demolished Wednesday morning. Elev8 Demolition received a $471,000 permit on behalf of Town Center East Acquisition LLC to demolish the 63,154-square-foot building and foundation last week. In its stead will be the Village at Town Center, developed by the Klotz Group of Companies and KABR Group. The project on 37 acres will support 1,025 units of high-end luxury residential and student housing. There will also be 115,00 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space at the space located at 3800 St. Johns Bluff Road, a press release said.

In 2021, Town Center East Acquisition LLC acquired the Morocco Shrine Center for $16 million, and the Klotz Group and KABR Group
