Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland is hosting an in-person meeting today with the provincial and territorial finance ministers in Toronto to discuss issues including the transition to a clean economy, challenges in healthcare systems across the country, and the current economic environment.

The meeting comes at a tense time for many Canadian consumers, with inflation still running hot and interest rates much higher than they were a year ago.

The Bank of Canada raised its key interest rate again last week, bringing it to 4.5 per cent, but signalled it's taking a pause to let the impact of its aggressive hiking cycle sink in. The economy is showing signs of slowing, but inflation was still high at 6.3 per cent in December, with food prices in particular remaining elevated year over year.

Interest rates have put a damper on the housing market, sending prices and sales downward for months on end even as the cost of renting went up in 2022. Meanwhile, the labour market has remained strong, with the unemployment rate nearing record lows in December at five per cent.

Partial Provincial payments into ukrain trust bonds

Look its Canada's very own bobble head.

🧙‍♀️

The face of true evil

She is wondering what any of this has to do with sending money to Zelensky

Scary

Like she knows anything about finance....all passed down from her nazi grandfather.

Useless 🤡

C*nt

Glad she has a smile on her face nothing really too concerning to worry about, except for Chinese spying, house market collapsing, random attacks on public, draconian internet regulations...

To bad I can't buy a nice warm coat and hat but my pension doesn't allow things like that. They say I make to much to be called destitute, my pension stays the same and prices go higher. When she talks to finance ministers maybe they should discuss a living pension.

She is more evil than Karla Homolka .

Surely her degree in Slavic studies has prepared her for these key meetings to design the financial future of an entire country.

She has come to Toronto to withdraw the $ 2 billion she invested in the company that doesnt exist .

C*nt face thief

Here comes a windchill tax

She obviously doesn't want anybody to recognize her and chew her out

Feeling cute might crush the peasants later

Our next PM, as corrupt as the present one.

She's in town? This explains why it's so cold today.

What's the point if she never answers any question? Just send the generic scripts by email and save yourself and others a trip. Perhaps a preemptive gesture to soften us up before the Emergencies Act report comes out which will probably highlight the role Biden's Inflation Reduction Act played in its invocation. If the meeting was to address countering US IRA spending and attracting EU friendshoring this cabinet has already failed Quebec and Ontario. Mexico is getting over 2/3 of planned investment (FT). Even South Carolina was surprised here:
