hereandnow Worthwhile? For those who need it, of course it's worthwhile. If they don't need it, it dosen't hurt to know. So it's a net gain.
hereandnow Most patents (myself included) single use signs as a way to communicate with our your children before their language skills are developed enough for them to verbalize theirs wants. Being able to understand that your 18mo is having a meltdown because she’s thirst. Priceless
hereandnow I think the wiser investment for your child’s future is to put all that money into a college and let it compound for the next 18 years.
hereandnow I did baby signs with both kids & it wasn't to try to give them a leg up in their language skills; it was simply to know what those little cuties were thinking! It was fun, cheap & effective - & they were less frustrated. Win win. Lack of relevant research doesn't = worthless.
hereandnow We did signingtime w/our daughter (she’s 10 now) & it was amazing to watch esp as she expanded vocab & put together phrases not just identifying “items” but abstract concepts. Certainly helped communication & avoided many tantrums.
hereandnow I have been using all library resources and love it
hereandnow Yes
hereandnow Sorry. Sounds like a scam for gullible parents. Like playing Mozart during pregnancy will somehow make your kid a genius.
hereandnow It's great! But u don't have to spend ANY money & can make up your own signs. My son used 4; milk, more, all done, & help were incredibly useful (esp. 'help') & he could use those very clearly to communicate months before he could speak. None of the others stuck before he spoke.
hereandnow Let's focus on teaching them not (1.) to lie, (2.) recognize liars, & (3.) not to accept lies, first!
hereandnow Yes. Definitely. A grandson just had his 1st birthday 2 weeks ago. He signs saying 'more' and 'enough' and some others. Pretty cool.
hereandnow My grandson (15 months) signs 'please' by rubbing his belly, usually when he is hungry. Learned in daycare, at least he learned nice signs.
hereandnow My son had a speech delay, due to a build up of fluid in his ears that went undetected for over a year, causing hearing loss. Baby Signing Time was a lifesaver. For the first time, he had a way to communicate, and we had confirmation that he was able to develop language skills.
hereandnow Took some trying, but worked for our kid around 8 months or so
hereandnow I taught it to my kids as babies. The worthwhile part comes from engaging with your babies in meaningful & fun ways.
