San Jose's City Council is getting a series of recommendations of how to approach Downtown vibrancy, planning and permitting, housing and homelessness and other issues.

Feb 14, 2023, 9:01am PST

The committees, which Mahan formed as he took office last month, assessed the problems and issues the new mayor highlighted during his campaign to succeed former Mayor Sam Liccardo: housing and homelessness, community safety, clean neighborhoods, downtown vibrancy, and planning and permitting. The City Council will hear more about the recommendations Tuesday at their regular weekly meeting. City staff next week will put together a list of"priority focus areas," suggesting ways to implement the committees' suggestions and how to measure their success, according to the press release.
