Wojcicki plans to stay with Alphabet but is handing over YouTube's reins to her top lieutenant.

Longtime YouTube LLC CEO Susan Wojcicki is stepping down to be replaced by long-time lieutenant Neal Mohan.

Wojcicki, a 25-year Alphabet Inc. veteran who has been one of the most prominent female executives in Silicon Valley, plans to remain at YouTube to help Mohan step into his new role. Mohan, YouTube's chief product officer since 2015, joined Google after it acquired DoubleClick in 2007. "This will allow me to call on my different experiences over the years to offer counsel and guidance across Google and the portfolio of Alphabet companies," Wojcicki wrote."It's an incredibly important time for Google — it reminds me of the early days — incredible product and technology innovation, huge opportunities and a healthy disregard for the impossible."
