A desperate plea for help by the board of the battered Johannesburg Property Company to the City of Johannesburg amid alleged intimidation by union members has fallen on deaf ears.
In a letter to acting city manager Bryne Maduka earlier this month, the chairperson of the JPC board, advocate Brenda Madumise, described a hostile situation in which it could not function, as officials from the South African Municipal Workers' Union were"hell-bent on destroying what remains of the entity".
Madumise implored Maduka to"act swiftly… in arresting the malaise at JPC", adding there existed"rogue elements", violence and intimidation at the City entity.
