The rise in overseas investors buying up Irish forestry land has caused a growing opposition to the idea of planting trees among farmers, politicians will hear tomorrow

The Irish Farmers’ Association will tell the Oireachtas agriculture committee that rural communities are watching “land being bought up by invisible investors”, and that there are minimal benefits to local communities from the strategy of raising millions in private capital to fund forestry initiatives.
