There will be a new name and website

A new primary school is set to open in Rushden this September following the merger of two existing schools in the town. One of the schools, Tennyson Road Infant School, will 'technically' close as part of the amalgamation following a public consultation.

The two sites will now open as a new primary school operating across both sites on September 1. Tennyson Road Infants, which currently has over 100 pupils, will formally close as an institution at the end of the current school year. Alfred Street Junior School , will be expanded to a full primary school, providing education for children aged 3 to aged 11. NNC say the arrangement will "meet the needs of the pupils and the wider community."

The initial consultation showed "majority support for amalgamation" according to NNC. Whilst the second consultation proposed the plans for the closure of Tennyson Road.
