Report finds while oil sands group emphasizes commitments to reducing emissions from oil sands operations, but also advocates against regulation to drive down the sector’s emission in the nearer term

Despite the sector’s net-zero commitments, the industry “remains strategically opposed to science-based policy to deliver net-zero targets in line with limiting warming to 1.5 degrees C,” the analysis found.

“When engagement and attempts to influence policy diverge massively from what the science says is needed to maintain a safe climate, then I think it’s arguably a special case where that really shouldn’t be happening,” he said in an interview. Pathways vice-president Mark Cameron said in a statement that the coalition’s level of commitment and collaboration to help support Canada’s climate goals is unprecedented.

Pathways says the $16.5-billion project will reduce net emissions by 10 to 12 million tonnes per year by 2030. On Wednesday the group announced it had awarded a $10-million contract to global engineering company Wood to develop detailed plans for the pipeline to support a regulatory application for the project later this year.

Good! Keep undermining the nonsense.

Who gives a shit about little old Canada and our 1.89% global carbon contributions, when China is billowing black smoke in record rates? Canada needs its oil. China needs to slow all production, and what will help that along is NOT buying Chinese products internationally.

Who cares

And who is funding the think tank?

Is this think tank funded by Russia or the liberal government?

The story was written fairly by the way and an example by which more media can question these “think tanks” - and provide fair response to refute activist claims.

Trudeau's cabinet flew to 3 continents this week, for photo ops and meet and greets, Trudeau is the only politician in the history of our country to use 2 jet planes to campaign. Their own actions show they don't believe in what they preach.

Think tank. An oxymoron if there ever was..

Liberal 'think tanks' hard at work again saving the planet...

We need energy from oil and gas Energy security is national security And we will need oil and gas for 75 to 100 years at least at similar levels to today. Global demand is now 2% over pre COVID

Think tank = activists

Canada's carbon emissions represents 1.6% of global emissions. There is no urgency for Canada to rush towards net 0. We aren't even in the top 100 on global emissions charts.

Well kick them out of the country bye bye

net zero is impossible. One major volcano eruption would dwarf our efforts.... Net zero is a religious belief.

This is just more propaganda from G&M designed to make you anti-oil sands. G&M does not care about the prices you pay for energy at all. They don’t care about your family struggles. All they care about is helping the left wing agenda.
