New plans are afoot

An huge employment space with shops with industrial buildings, shops and a hotel is being lined up for a site which was once earmarked for an Ikea-led retail development.

The new planning application relates to separate parcels of land which will come together with the "Cuerdale Garden Village" masterplan to create a major new housing and industrial development within central Lancashire. This application alone is estimated to lead to an annual £120m injection into the local economy with more than 2,000 jobs created.

The application states: "No other site in Central Lancashire possesses the locational attributes of the opportunity presented at Cuerdale and Salmesbury.
