Gina Rinehart's company Hancock Prospecting declares a $150,000 political donation 444 days after the legal deadline, following questions from the ABC.

abc.net.

Professor Joo-Cheong Tham, director of the Electoral Regulation Research Network, said the donation gave the AEC grounds to consider prosecution, and believed the AEC should take a "robust approach to compliance with the law". "The AEC seems to have a rather cavalier attitude towards compliance — that late compliance is good enough," Mr Watson said. The ABC reported earlier this month that Hancock Prospecting gave $190,000 to the Sydney Mining Club, with the understanding the Club would pay $150,000 to the Liberal Party's events and fundraising arm, the Australian Business Network.

When approached by the ABC, the Sydney Mining Club denied the money it paid to the Liberal Party had come from Hancock Prospecting, despite emails between mining club staff saying that was the case.Chair of the club Julian Malnic told the ABC the money came from the club's sponsors, which did not include Hancock.

So what was Gina's fine; or was it only a Boy's Club slap on the wrist.

AusElectoralCom doesn't have the teeth or will to investigate.

ctrldh_ We know the answer. Political donations should be stopped period.

Spoiler: No.

Nope 👎

The AusElectoralCom won't do a thing to her. There are different rules for the wealthy. The Law is only applied to worker bees, not the Corporate Queen bee. List the identified Corporate crimes in AUS in the last 10 years, and show me where charges were laid. ICACNeeded

CourtRum ONLY DECLARED after she was caught out. CORRUPTION. Seize all her assets- its how she acquired her excessive wealth- buying regulators. Now we know, seize her assets.

ElaineM11584892 Why ask the question because you know the answer

Will ABC ever do an unbiased investigation of the Shorten rape allegations? How about interviewing Kathy Sherriff, or doesn't she matter because Shorten is a Labor cabinet member? Stop the bias ABC.

Meanwhile 💉

'There's obviously a breach and the offence is a serious one' - Geoffrey Watson SC We charge children with trivial offences, so why wouldn't we investigate the Hancock Prospecting/Sydney Mining Club 'arrangement' which has delivered $300k to the Liberals?

When is the regulator going to investigate this?

I'm sure the Union donations to the ALP are all above board.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Of course not. Different rules exist for the wealthy

Of course they won’t investigate - not if the political party wants another donation.

Government is scared to even raise a very reasonable super tax ,a sorry state of affairs.

Australia has no government, cooperates rule.

Not of it is the same Regulator who is supposed to ensure the ABC is a balanced and fair Broadcaster

‘But… but she does so much for charity.’

No.
