Those big-headed vinyl pop-culture dolls will soon make their way into the hands of a new collector: the garbage collector.

Thirty million dollars worth of Funko\n \n Pop! figures – those big-headed, vinyl pop-culture dolls – will soon make their way into the hands of a new collector: The garbage collector. Funko said in its fourth quarter earnings report that a combination of waning demand for the toys and a surplus of inventory is creating financial trouble for the company. Last year, they had to rent excess warehouse space just to hold the buildup of Funko figures, which range from Baby Yoda to Eddie Van Halen.

” In short, the product they’re storing is now worth less than the cost of keeping it on hand, so they’re dumping at least $30 million worth of it. On a call with investors last week, CEO Brian Mariotti said Funko had already filled its Arizona distributing center to the brim with dolls and was forced to rent excess storage containers for them. The cost of that extra storage, he said, was causing the company to lose money at a rapid clip.

Did they not receive the memo about the over production of plastics & pollutions?

elonmusk can your Semi's pick up these toys to donate to kid's charities or hospitals instead of having them sit in the trash? Turn Funko's corporate failure into a happy day for kids in need. 🫶🏼

Donate it

Bullish for collectors.

WHUTTTT?!?!!

kobytan

Don't you mean zero million dollars?

OriginalFunko funkoPopToys how about donating them to ToysForTots_USA or other charitable organizations?! Adding to landfills surely isn’t the best you can come up with here?!

Couldn't they just be, like, given away? Make it make sense to me.

What’s the location of the dump?

Only way to raise their value again: make them rare.

Capitalism is done.

That's a good place for them

i speak for everyone when i say that this is better for all of us

Donate them to the boys n girls clubs across America .

probably mostly trash from the DCEU and MCU

Did Don Rickles write this headline?

We do not understand the world view of capitalists

😂 To all the people who ignored Beanie Babies and thought they were going to get rich collecting Funko Pops.

Send them to Africa

Recycle?!

Those things are hideous... recycle them all and make better collectibles

On a long enough timeline everything ends up in the trash.

An it only took that long … to turn into a Beenie baby 🤦

MomoMonroe look

not repurposed? yeah, next time you think climate change is because of you as an individual think about this shit.

Okay

Why not just give em away to kids that want them instead of cluttering our landfills!?

Crazy

Always have been trash imho.

I’m not a fan of these type mass made so called collectibles. But I would think there’s enough children in hospitals or enough children with no toys for Christmas that would love these.

Without fail, every antique mall or store that deals in collectibles that I visit is filled floor to ceiling with these stupid things

Honestly, I don't understand why they make some of the figures they do. And why do we need 17 different looks of a figure?

funko stop. they were like hot potatoes, last one to get em loses.

Funko Pop is becoming an environmental disaster. 'Collectors' were duped into believing these toys are rare collectibles. Sorry to those who paid 10X to 1,000X on eBay. funkoPOP Funko scam.

Mm, it will turn to Chucky the weird doll i think yaaak 🥴🥴🥴🥴

The Biden Administration plans to dump them in East Palestine

So after reading this I understand: - they are tossing $30 MILLION dollars of product into the garbage and slashing 10% of staff because they have been spending too much to store the excess Pop. -they didn’t 1 time decide to sell them at a cheaper rate to mitigate their loss
