There's one way to force President Joe Biden and Congress to solve the looming crisis over the debt limit : a financial market crash.

FILE - President Joe Biden speaks about the February jobs report from the Roosevelt Room of the White House, March 10, 2023, in Washington. Republicans and Democrats have been dancing around each other about the need to raise the government's legal borrowing authority. Biden tried to edge closer on Thursday, March 9, by releasing his budget plan that cuts deficits by $2.9 trillion over 10 years, an offer that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif, quickly dismissed as woefully insufficient.

Biden Stop Spending our $$ foolishly

Or the GOP stops holding America’s credit rating hostage.

Stop calling it a ‘crisis’. Fix it: …”solve the republican created crisis over the debt limit”. There is no debt crisis. There is no debt ceiling crisis. It’s all made up political theater.

Say Republicans AP. Republicans

Just because Joe & Dems want to know how drunk rats behave & observe shrimp on treadmills.

Debt is a juggling tool

Wrong anwser everytime

And that is exactly what they want

Bring back sigtarp!

AP, how is this a both sides thing? Debt ceiling has routinely been raised when Republicans were President. The GOP is basically taking the economy hostage to impose cuts most people would not support.

It's going to take another Great Depression to shake people out of their delusions that things will keep on rolling. Might actually be good in the long run.

100% expect the GOP to push thru a market crash, just to amp outrage at Biden. Then, after 7-10 days of outrage, they will cave and raise the debt ceiling 🙄

It is ugly how horny financial institutions are for a recession that would devastate millions of lives. And there is one other way for them to solve this looming crisis: for the GOP to do its job. This headline launders their avarice. Do a better job.

What an embarrassment The AP is turning into. Breaking news AP, the Republicans are the only ones threatening a debt limit crisis. What a joke.

Congress, not the president has purview over the budget.

You do know Biden cannot raise the debt ceiling?

Solve what...the GOP is sabotaging the economy to own tbe libs....not a puzzle-pretty evident

The government always steps in to save the stock market. Can’t let those billionaires loose any money

Whatever it takes. We don't negotiate with domestic terrorists holding our country and benefits hostage. GOPClownShowContinues

Let's do it. Crash away.

Take a break from onlyfans OF , SVB SVBCollapse, war, Banking and all other bizarre events and enjoy a Sonic stream with ! (Proud dad here) Please toss them a follow and sub! Thanks all! 3 3

Isn't that what the Fed is doing by hiking the interest rates? SVB has been taken by the FDIC. Who will be next. Cards are starting to fall thanks to the Ded policies. 2 million out of work while they sit in their mansions making million to destroy us.

All part of the plan

No. Not at all. That’s not the one way. Republicans don’t care about the economy at all. Just the next election cycle. Is the economy tanking good or bad for Biden? That’s their only guide.

This is such a trash headline I can't believe it, even for . It's a *totally made up crisis* being used by Republicans in hock to Wall Street to try to force privatization of Social Security.

Why don’t we cut spending first?

Biden will be the first president in US history when the default happens his priorities are someplace else

Was this written by DougJBalloon ?

You give congress too much credit.

It's coming, just a matter of time.

Nahhhh

Can we just stop borrowing against social security?

The GOP have already moved out and shorted the market. They want to crash the pensions, home equity and retirement savings of everyone else, then buy up everything for pennies. Like 2008 on steroids.

The problem is not Biden, the problem is Republicans wanting to crash it in order to blame Biden.

Are you for real? You got that backwards. Start with rolling back all the tax cuts the GOP & Trump gave billionaires & corporations and force them to pay their fair share. That’s a start. The GOP don’t care squat about the “debt limit” when a repub is the president.

Why would we want that

AP continues to be 'both sides,' false equivalence, normalize-rightwing-extremism drivel.

So many things could be cut….the government is corrupt and very wasteful….

Biden isn’t the part of the looming crisis. It’s the gqp

Hope not

If Biden tanks the market - Democrats will achieve their goal of destroying the economy. But Socialism won't replace it. Look for a super-powered free-market capitalism - where Congress and the government gets to spend the money it raised the year before (after liabilities).

DougJBalloon

Leave it to the government and the 'advisors' to never let a good crisis go to waste. I'm surprised we even still call it a debt 'limit'. It's really more of a 'pause, reflect, remember, gesticulate wildly for effect, and carry on as usual' moment for govt.

Yes, a 'financial market crash' would reduce inflation.

How about a reasonable budget from the present?

Don’t ‘both-sides’ this.

Crash it !

It’s only happened under the incompetent Joe Biden’s Presidency.

Hate to say it but maybe that's the only thing that will finally stop the GOP from using the D/L as a weapon.

Don’t blame Biden; congress still doesn’t have a budget.

You mean for REPUBLICANS to?

Government is too big, and spends too much. Borrowing more is a ridiculous fix. Cut spending, shrink government, stop borrowing money and giving it away.

Whoever wrote this sounds like they want everyone's retirement accounts to sink.

it's a bit more complex than that. Biden is basically asking for a blank check and a debt bailout, which seems more like a personal favor to his campaign than a legitimately good budget plan.

Between the Fed and the GOP, will be a miracle if we don’t have a hard hard landing. Own goal. Geesh…

Lol go back to writing fanfic on Trump-Russia. You are out of your depth here.

This is only a problem because of the GOP house...they want to hold America hostage for an extreme agenda even crashing the economy to do so...Do not both sides this. The GOP Senate would pass a debt ceiling bill without issue...

It has become increasingly apparent that many Democrats are leaving the party due to the influence that progressive liberals have on the party. This is largely due to the fact that progressive liberals have pushed the Democratic Party further to the left, embracing more extreme…

Where are all the Republicans crying 'fear porn'?

lmaooooo

Ask yourself this question. Is this reporting news or stoking fear of a financial meltdown?

Stop spending

Republicans will do everything they can to sabotage the economy

Μετά θα είναι πολύ αργά...

AP needs to get back to reporting news and not speculating.

this reeks. Biden doesn't need to be forced to do anything. His budget has been released. Now lets talk about the insurrectionist controlled GOP congress. Criminals are running the GOP now. pay attention!

How can you get this so wrong? Republicans in Congress want to crash the economy in hopes of gaining more power.

Seems like it would take a Time Machine to go back and NOT elect tRUMP to fix many of our problems! That seems easier than this worthless Congress making any positive moves!

Delete this. The 'crisis' is one side taking a hostage.
