Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong said around 1,700 out of 3,900 stalls were totally damaged.The fire started at around 11:30 p.m.
Saturday and spread quickly, gutting the whole Block 3 and half of Block 4 and the center of the market.Baguio City Fire Marshal Supt. Marisol Odiver said that initial investigation showed that the fire began at the Block 4 extension area, specifically at the 'ukay-ukay ' section.Authorities placed damage to property at P24 million.
