Starbucks’ new CEO Laxman Narasimhan plans on working in Starbucks stores as a barista once a month

Starbucks’ new CEO Laxman Narasimhan teased his plan for the company in a letter to employees. It includes working in Starbucks stores as a barista once a month. Narasimhan officially became the coffee chain’s chief executive on Monday, taking the reins from Howard Schultz about two weeks earlier than scheduled.

That includes more digital offerings for customers, moving more quickly while being less wasteful, expanding globally and “further [elevating] the brand through coffee,” he added. Recently, the company introduced a new line of olive oil coffee. “Critically, we will reinvigorate our culture around what it means to be a partner at Starbucks,” Narasimhan continued. “I will always be a fierce advocate for our partners and our culture,” he added.

Looking for free coffee, naughty boy

Wow, once a month? How brave… lol

The Undercover Boss style of performative leadership. How about instead he try living on their salary for a year?

Who cares

let's hope his his skin color isn't a problem for him getting a job 🤔😉

Also here in Germany Starbucks is the king 💪🏻💪🏻 follow for more

Chile…another publicity stunt. He don’t give a fuck about those employees. If he did his first move would be to raise the wages. This country is truly disgusting

That's great!

Wow… once a month

Good for him

“Hey folks! Here to pull shots. So anyway, who here’s talking about unionizing? You trust me I’m very relatable pulling these shots.”

They’ll just make him pour drip for a couple of hours for a photo op until his handlers usher him back to the limousine.

That’s nice, dear.

That will run for 2 months and quietly disappear.

and he's gonna take no salary and donate it to charity too I bet. While making sure he gets paid in stock instead. lol.

😑

That sounds all well and good but most likely my guess is he will be cherry picking his shifts and never a closing shift by himself

He’d better not screw up my order.

Supercool! In Mexico City a barista was promoted to office mgmt & put coffee & tea mixtos on the menu. One day I saw it up on the menu after 6 months of ordering it off-menu. I loved that🙏💞 & was happy for her too cuz she's a woman in a very patriarchal country. GoStarbucks

Puppet

Once a month is not really impressive. Most retail / restaurant CEOs are visiting locations talking to employees and customers many times a month. This is pure optics. Low effort on his part for a big headline.

great it can be closer to grassroots work, improve management, and better handle grassroots issues.

Not the unionized ones he won't

That will last one outing!

And who is this guy again? Where did he come from? Why is he here? Why will he be there?

🤮

Ha, ha, ha! The baristas are going to ask for a raise!

Fascinating....

You can any job for a day.

Poor guy is gonna make Biden think he’s at a 7-Eleven

Nice. Cut some other person's pay so this guy making millions can pull a stunt acting like he really works for it.

All hail the new CEO! All hail....

How down with the people

He should end the chai latte nightmare 😂

Get my order right then

If that's true, great. So often, the people in charge don't know how things work in their own companies.

That's already been done, it's called boss undercover...

He should try living on their wages for a month. That would be awesome!

We’ll see how long that lasts

Great plan. I wish more CEO would work side-by-side with those in the trenches.

JFC it's easier to just bargain with SBWorkersUnited than all of this posturing

I’ll believe that when I see it.

Well that's a media-friendly stunt. I would cover it. Will he form a union, too?

Will he ask for tips for filling a cup of coffee?

Big if he actually does it, but I'm sure everyone will Baby the fuck out of him and he won't get the real experience of 7 team members calling off and manning the Sunday morning rush by himself

All he’ll do is slow down the regular crew.

Oh, god. Those poor baristas who have to train him.

Nobody wants this

That won't last long. People will recognize him and talk shlt to him all day long. Keep him off the register.

Interesting but for how long

He should!

I don't know who I detest more .. the commie news network or the worse parasitic coffee monopoly feeding of the backs of poor coffee farmers....both disgusting...

Doubt he would last 30 minutes.

I am a mochaholic, but I will no longer be going to Starbucks. Price increase is ridiculous, star reward increase to get free drink is ridiculous… AND what happened to the days when if they messed up your drink they gave you a certificate for a free one next time! BOOOO on YOU!

Wow what a man of the people he is.

Pathetic attempt to divert attention from starbucks union busting.

Bruh if this ain’t a “look at me!” Move 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

Oh I feel for those employees at the store he will be at. The DM will spend a week before hand going through ever small detail with the staff, stressing everyone out in the meantime, to put up a huge fake reality of what it’s really like. This sounds better than it is.

Really want to punish yourself as Starbucks CEO try drinking it

Pffffft. I want to see some diet changes CEO Mr. Laxman Narasimhan. Egg foods are not good for business. The new generation of food industry is moving to seafood and white onion with spicy foods on the Menu. Ask me anytime. I have no excuses or complaints. Thank you for your time

Love it.

Oooh, with the plebes

Why not every day for 2 months, so he can see how it is?

Wish he was working at my Starbucks the other day. Barista held up the drive thru so she could talk to another barista who was in their car. Grrr

I’d do a shift every day for as much as he gets paid.

Maybe he can help with how slow the lines are!!!

Put him on DT bar alone. Sink or swim Laxman. lol. I predict he lasts less than a year and Starbucks stock tanks.

Performative bs to avoid bargaining with SBWorkersUnited

Lmao

Bullshit

Lmao oh my how valiant of him! Someone should give that guy a fucking medal of honor

Right..like that's going to make a big difference..over priced coffee I make my own at home..save money..get what I want without long lines. Had someone pick up my food touch I asked for a new one. Guess what happened Mr. CEO?

Riveting 😂

As long as they know who he is it doesn’t really matter. Maybe sit inside as a customer and observe? 🤔

Will he unionize himself? 🧐🤥

Will he be donating his CEO salary for those barista shifts to charity and only accepting barista-level wages?

LoL for one month to get a photo op then he'll stop

He should. I hope he sticks with this

A weekly Undercover Boss?

Wait’ll he gets his first “Karen” who throws a drink at him.

Once a month wooh !

Great. Now please stop charging an obscene amount of money for mediocre overly-sweetened coffee, ditch all the single use plastic and then maybe…maybe, we can take you seriously. This article is pandering 101.

Lol that will end after the first month

That will last exactly 1 month. 😒

The boutique locations behind restricted access gates don't count

I applaud this approach. It can only improve Starbucks nationwide.

Will they schedule him to clopen?

I don’t go to Starbucks anymore since they refused cash at their drive through recently. What about people who don’t use contactless or apple pay ?

And continuing their tradition of spelling everyone’s name wrong

I doubt

That’ll fix everything….

Years ago, Starbucks kicked me out of their stores for standing up to a Lesbian customer who was sexually harassing me. Baristas (except ONE gay male) could not get my simple tea order right; blasted RAP at 6:30 AM & kept store at a frigid temp for the largely overweight staff.

Is he going to do anything other than ececute a gimmick? What is the man's stance on allowing his workers to unionize?

With the same salary of a Barista? Otherwise, he’s overpaid!

He'll do it once as a photo op, then never again

They need to take a way this new “tipping” at the drive thru system!

No need

More executives in major companies need to do things like this
