Workers belonging to the South African Commercial, Catering and Allied Workers Union are demanding a 12% wage increase, a uniform allowance, and a separate 13th cheque.

"And an increase in their sales commission from 10% to 20%. Those are demands that are not affordable to our business and we are unable to meet them," says Massmart's Brian Leroni.Leroni says there shouldn't be disturbances to customers and operations, as there's an area demarcated for workers to hold their pickets.
